Spot the alien clearing signs

Look out for the ABI Alien Clearing Project signboards across the Agulhas Plain, showcasing areas where the project is underway. The signs have been put up by the nine land user groups involved in the project, covering much of the Plain.

The nine groups involved are: Walker Bay Fynbos Conservancy, the Nuwejaars Wetland Special Management Area (and the Elim Community), Spanjaardskloof Residents Organisation, Akkedisberg Conservancy, Solitaire Conservancy, Kleinriviersberg Conservancy, Strandveld Farmers' Association, Napier Mountain Conservancy and De Diepegat Conservancy.

To date more than 12,000 hectares have been cleared, creating direct employment for 270 people and 15,500 person days of work.

From the ABI Coordination Unit, a huge thank you to all partners involved in the project - the land user groups and the land users, CapeNature and SANParks officials, officials from the Overberg District Municipality and the Overstrand Municipality, and of course the Department of Environmental Affairs, Working for Water and the Expanded Public Works Programme.
