The Overberg’s busy fire season

The Overberg’s busy fire season

The Overberg was hit by 11 wildfires since the start of year up to the end of January. According to the Greater Overberg Fire Protection Association, almost all the wildfires were started by humans – either accidentally or with malicious intent. 

ABI represented at fynbos expo

The Agulhas Biodiversity Initiative was at the Cape Floral Kingdom Expo from 27-31 August 2015. ABI was represented by Gretha Louw – recipient of an ABI Small Grant. Gretha’s stand showcased the tools and equipment she uses as part of her environmental education for school children. Gretha used the small grant to buy laboratory equipement, including a microscope and a projector.

CLOSED: Extension Officer sought

The Overberg Lowlands Conservation Trust, an ABI Partner, is looking for an Extension Officer, to assist in a new project that will focus on restoring watercourses and linking critical corridors between important renosterveld remnants.
