The Nuwejaars Westlands Special Management Area is found in the Agulhas Plain, in the Overberg Region. Our aim is to create a sustainable ecology, which ensures the protection of the Nuwejaars Wetland Ecosystem, enhances the heritage and culture of the sub-region, generates benefit for all stakeholders, helps meet social and environmental requirements, and encourages community lifestyles compatible with environmental sustainability.

CapeNature is driven by the vision to conserve nature for a sustainable future. The organisation’s mission is to manage, conserve and promote our human, natural and heritage assets through best practice, access, benefit sharing and sustainable use.

The ORCT is uniquely positioned to bring landowners, communities, NGOs, and wildlife agencies together to conserve the last of the Renosterveld in several strategic locations. Our aim is to bring agriculture and conservation into harmony by establishing long-term, positive relationships with landowners and creating awareness of the importance of ecosystem functioning and integrity and the benefits of ecosystem services.

The Greater Overberg Fire Protection Association (goFPA) helps land users predict, prevent, manage and extinguish wildfires. Wildfires move through landscapes – destroying property, livelihoods, biodiversity and sometimes even lives.

WWF South Africa is a national office that is part of the WWF network. We are a local NGO that for more than 40 years has worked towards the aim of inspiring all South Africans to live in harmony with nature, for the benefit of our country and the well-being of all our people.

This rural part of the southernmost area of the Western Cape is a well-kept nature reserve. Life here is relaxed, quiet and unspoiled. This is the place where “getting away from it all” is really possible.

South African National Parks is the body responsible for managing South Africa’s national parks. Launched by Sir Edmund Hillary and Sir David Attenborough, The Table Mountain Fund is a capital Conservation Trust Fund that develops and funds projects to protect and restore the world-famous natural heritage of the Cape, known as the Fynbos.

The Foundation’s implementation strategies are based on three integrated ‘umbrella’ programmes: ‘Green Futures’ which focuses on conservation, ‘Football Foundation’ which focuses on utilising sport for development, and ‘Siyakhula’ which focuses on the creation of sustainable livelihoods through enterprise development.

A trust based in Stanford, whose activities closely align with ABI’s four themes.

Whale Coast Conservation is a member based organisation founded with the mission to unify, coordinate and promote environmentally sustainable living in the Cape Whale Coast region of the Western Cape, South Africa.

We are the Khoi Indigenous Nation Traditional Association (KHINATRA) aim to rebuild the customs and traditions of our ancestors through the use of our Indigenous Knowledge Systems to preserve and protect our natural environment to play an active role in nature conservation. To become economically self-sustainable by addressing the Socio-Economic needs of the community in the field of the green economy to leave a legacy for future generations by caring and living in harmony with nature.

The ABI Environmental Education project, started through the ABI Small Grants Programme and run by Gretha Engelbrecht, came about to form a service in support of practical learning in rural and farm schools in the Overberg. Gretha makes use of laboratory equipment to ensure children in primary schools receive practical environmental learning opportunities.

The BotSoc Southern Overberg is a branch of the national Botanical Society of South Africa. Together we know, grow, protect and enjoy indigenous plants in the Southern Overberg.
